Members look back on a busy few months

It has been a busy few months for the NE Armagh group. The annual trip involved a visit of Moore’s Concrete in Ballymena. Members were given a tour around the factory showing the manufacturing of the company’s agricultural products. The afternoon involved a visit to James Alexander’s impressive farm and tractor business in Randalstown.

Ulster Farmers’ Union president Harry Sinclair has welcomed the £1 million that has been secured to help farmers facing fodder shortages saying: “Every livestock farmer in Northern Ireland has been waiting for a break in the weather but it has just not materialised. As a result, the fodder situation on many farms had reached crisis point. Many farms had little or no fodder and it was becoming increasingly difficult to find affordable fodder from other sources. The UFU has worked closely with DARD to find a way to address the fodder issue and I was very pleased when the minister announced £1 million had been secured and that a fodder transport scheme was being established.”
